Long-term Partnership Yields Further Improvements in Efficiency and Sustainability
TORONTO – May 21, 2009: Nulogy, a leading provider of specialized solutions for complex supply-chain challenges, made public today the completion of the second phase of an on-going project to improve efficiencies in Unilever’s supply-chain network.
This most recent advancement in the solution is the result of a multi-year collaboration between Unilever, Schenker DB Logistics, and Nulogy. The improved service extracts data from existing operational systems into a custom optimization engine that incorporates factors such as product size, packaging strength, delivery date, and destination. The result is greater pallet density, reduced costs, and a cleaner environment.
“Schenker introduced a continuous improvement opportunity to Unilever to improve supply-chain efficiencies in how we coordinate, plan and load our orders,” explains Leonard Bayard, Manager of Third-Part Warehousing, Unilever Canada. “Nulogy was able to integrate the complex requirements of all the stakeholders and come up with a successful solution.” In addition to the needs of Unilever and Schenker, Nulogy ensured that the team of carrier companies would also benefit from the solution.
“This project continues to be an example of a special partnership between our three companies,” added Ginnie Venslovaitis, Unilever’s manager of transportation services. The web-based solution was built based on the results of a six-month feasibility study Nulogy performed involving detailed requirements gathering, modeling and scenario simulation, and workflow analysis. Says Nulogy co-founder and project leader, Kevin Wong, “We are very proud of this project as it reaffirms Nulogy’s ability to develop economical, high-return solutions even in complex multi-party projects.”
