Nulogy Launches Track and Trace Module for FSMA 204 Compliance

New purpose-built module helps food distributors, manufacturers, packagers, and retailers meet FSMA 204 and answer an FDA request in 24 hours.

TORONTO, August 18, 2026 – Nulogy, a leading provider of food and beverage operations software, today has launched Nulogy Track and Trace, a new module that helps food distributors, manufacturers, packagers, and retailers meet the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act Section 204 (FSMA 204) ahead of its July 2028 deadline. The module enables food companies to capture, link, and retrieve the lot-level records FSMA 204 requires, and to answer an FDA request within 24 hours.

FSMA 204 compliance requires significant changes within the food supply chain, yet many companies are unprepared. In a June 2026 Nulogy poll of 161 companies across the food supply chain, two-thirds said they were still assessing FSMA 204 scope or unsure how they would meet the requirements. Thirty-seven percent indicated they would extend an existing ERP, WMS, or QMS – tools that are not purpose-built for FSMA 204’s new traceability and recall requirements.

Part of Nulogy Quality & Compliance, Track and Trace records every traceability event as goods are received, transformed, and shipped, whether that data is captured directly in Nulogy or pulled from a company’s existing enterprise system. It creates the Critical Tracking Event (CTE) records the rule requires, generates and links Traceability Lot Codes (TLCs) automatically, and keeps every event in one searchable register. When the FDA asks, a company can trace any lot in both directions and produce the sortable file in minutes, instead of the days it takes to rebuild a lot by hand.

“For most food companies, the traceability data is scattered across systems, sites, and partners. FSMA 204 is really about pulling it into one lot-level record you can produce on demand,” said Kevin Donaghy, Innovation Officer, Quality & Compliance, Nulogy. “The hardest lots to trace are the ones built from many suppliers and changed along the way, and by hand those can take weeks. We built Track and Trace to do that in minutes, so our customers are ready well before 2028.”

Track and Trace capabilities include:

CTE Register: Every shipping, receiving, and transformation event in one register, searchable instantly by lot code, product, supplier, or customer.

24-Hour Sortable Export: Produce the FDA’s electronic sortable spreadsheet for any lot, product, date range, or partner, in minutes.

Flexible Data Capture: Enter traceability data directly in Nulogy, pull it from connected ERP, WMS, and MES systems through Nulogy Connect, or both, so every Key Data Element (KDE) is captured once, at the source.

Automated TLCs: Generates and links TLCs automatically when ingredients are combined or repacked.

Nulogy Track and Trace is the newest addition to the Nulogy Operating System, extending the system that already runs production, quality, and compliance for leading food distributors, manufacturers and packagers into full FSMA 204 traceability.
