The checklist walks through 36 assessment statements across 6 critical areas, so you can score your current state, identify the gaps that matter most, and build a 90-day action plan before an FDA request surfaces them first. For more on what a real gap in recall readiness can cost, see our recent look at the Midwest Poultry Services egg recall.

Food safety, quality, and operations leaders responsible for FSMA 204 readiness, recall response, or traceability records.
FSMA 204 is Section 204(d) of the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act. It establishes additional traceability recordkeeping requirements for anyone who manufactures, processes, packs, or holds foods on the FDA's Food Traceability List (FTL).
Covered entities must comply by July 20, 2028.
CTEs are the points in the supply chain, such as growing, receiving, transforming, creating, and shipping, where the rule requires specific records to be captured. Most food manufacturers are directly responsible for a subset of these, typically receiving, transformation, and shipping.
